Nature Talks
Interest in nature-based tourism has grown significantly in recent years, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic. Visiting natural settings benefits health and well-being, and Protected Areas (PAs) have become key destinations for visitors seeking meaningful outdoor experiences.
Heritage Interpretation (HI) is a powerful tool to engage visitors, communicate the value of natural and cultural heritage, and promote sustainable behaviour. Yet HI is often underdeveloped in PAs due to limited funding, time, expertise, and infrastructure, as well as low awareness of its importance.
NatureTalks addresses these challenges by:
- Strengthening HI competences of PA staff;
- Developing an innovative, up-to-date training programme;
- Providing a blended, multilingual learning model;
- Raising awareness of HI’s impact on sustainability and visitor experience.
By supporting NatureTalks, the EU invests in a transformative approach that enhances visitor engagement, promotes environmental stewardship, and makes Protected Areas more resilient and inclusive.
