urban forestry assessment
In 2010, NatureTalks worked with the Kaulunani Urban Forestry Council to conduct a comprehensive assessment of urban forestry issues throughout the state of Hawaii. The primary tasks were to increase stakeholder involvement, analyze critical issues, and co-author Hawaii’s Statewide Urban & Community Forestry Assessment and Strategy. This project had Urban Forestry participants in Hawaii looking beyond traditional boundaries and expanding to include stakeholders from the watershed, invasive species groups, and coastal and cultural specialists. NatureTalks’ role in this project was multi-faceted, including everything from conceptualizing and organizing a summit of key stakeholders to co-authoring the final document in tandem with the coordinator of the Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Council.
