urban forestry survey

NatureTalks is part of a team of researchers working to develop a survey to gain an understanding of the essential practices, training, and experiences of urban forestry storm responders. With the sharp increase in urbanization in coastal and forested areas, urban foresters must be prepared for disasters. The results will form the foundation of a resource for our utility, municipal, and urban forestry professionals to use when planning and managing emergencies that damage not only utility lines but also municipal infrastructure and generate extensive vegetative debris. Smart Trees Pacific was awarded a Forest Service National Urban and Community Forest Advisory Council (NUCFAC) Best Practices Grant to develop this Urban Forestry Emergency Operations Planning Tool for Storm Response.
